Community Cookbooks - Southern Style

Some of my favorite cookbooks are community/church cookbooks. They always have great recipes!

Charleston Receipts, published in 1951 by the Junior League of Charleston. Another popular community cookbook, it is the nation’s oldest Junior League cookbook, originally published in 1950 and now in its 35th printing selling close to a million copies.

All South Cookbook, no publication date, but appears to be from the 1960's. Complied by the Women's Home & Foreign Mission of the First Adventist Christian Church of Pensacola, Florida. The orange sticky notes were placed by the previous owner.

Ladies Guild Cook Book, also not dated, but most likely from the 1950's judging from the ads. Edited by the Ladies of Episcopal Church of Luling, Texas.

Brandermill Woman's Club Cookbook, published in 1980. Brandermill is a planned community on the outskirts of Richmond, Virginia. It was named the "Best Planned Community in America” in 1977. The bookmark was placed by me  - for the recipe "Smothered Hamburger Steak." A lot of recipes I use come from the cookbooks I purchase.
