- The Return! New Purchases - White House & California Sizzles

The White House Family Cookbook, published in 1987. My second cookbook with White House recipes , but not quite as old as my first - seen here: http://cocosvintagecookbookcollection.blogspot.com/2013/09/antique-cookbooks-1912-or-older.html

The book has two decades of recipes ( Lydon Johnson to the Reagans), plus lot of photos including a super cool picture of George Harrison chatting with President Ford (!!) and historical tidbits. The  chapters focus on each administration. I find it funny the Lyndon Johnson's favorite breakfast was chipped beef on toast (AKA shit on on a shingle for anyone who ever served in the military!), my dad ( a former Marine) often spoke of this monstrosity when we complained about what was being served for a meal. The Nixons favored beef and chicken for their entrees, while the Fords mixed it up a bit with a few Chinese recipes. As expected there are lots of Southern style recipes for the Carters and the Reagan's reflect the push towards the healthier eating movement of the 1980's.

California Sizzles, published in 1992. Recipes were compiled by the Junior League of Pasadena. This a fairly large book with over 300 pages of California inspired recipes.
