New Purchases - Single Girls & Cocktails

Helen Gurley Brown's Singles Girl's Cookbook, published in 1969.  Helen also wrote "Sex and the Single Girl" (made into a movie starring Natalie Wood and Tony Curtis - one of my favorite movies of the era - the clothes Natalie wear are amazing!) and was the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine for 32 years. The recipes "are for single girls who haven't done much cooking and for married girls who want to be as attractive as singles girls in their husband's eyes"!!! The 400 page books book is filled with recipes for all occasions.

The Bartender's Guide, published in 1997. There are over 1,400 recipes for drinks and cocktails as well as chapters on bar equipment, glassware and a great chapter in the ingredients of various liquors, liqueurs, wines. cordials, etc. BONUS - the book was priced at 25 cents, but it was 50% off the day I spied in in the thrift store!
