New Purchases - Weekend Thrifty

Chef Paul Prudhomme's Louisiana Kitchen, published in 1984. It is the first cookbook written by Mr. Prudhomme (trivia - his given name is Gene Autry Prudhomme, but was given the name Paul by a priest on his birth certificate since it is/was tradition for Catholics to have a saint name). Paul is credited with popularizing Cajun cuisine.

The Louisiana Proud Collection of Home Cooking, published in 1991. Recipes were obtained by mail, phone or in person - people were asked to submit ONE recipe for something that they cooked for the family. Recipes represent all geographical sections and parishes of the state. My college town has a  recipe for a Seafood Casserole and the recipe my dad's hometown is a Strawberry Torte - which is appropriate since it is also home to the Strawberry Festival.

Vintage Vicksburg, published in 2000. Recipes complied by the Vicksburg Junior Auxiliary, it was first published in 1985. There are 900 recipes and the book is filled with historical color photos.

The Hour Magazine Cookbook, published in 1985. The most popular recipes from Gary Collins' TV show which ran from 1980 to 1988.
