Estate Sale Find - Vintage The Good Housekeeping Cook Book

The Good Housekeeping Cook Book, published in 1946. I own several editions of this book, all published in different years. This copy is the 7th edition and contains over 900 pages jam packed with recipes and useful information. There are chapters on meal planning, food stretchers and alternatives and most interestingly - the Business Housekeeper. This edition is probably the first post-war revision and reflects the changing role of women in the household. Many women did not return to their role of  homemaker after the war ended and this new chapter addresses the problems of preparing dinner without delay when working women returned home from their job.
